Turkey work is the reason to reach for this one. It is the stitch that makes a pile surface, the closest embroidery gets to fur, and it is worth learning on a sampler before you commit it to a project. Long and short sits alongside it for shading.

You supply a 6 inch embroidery hoop and scissors.

The finished sampler is 8.5 x 8.5 inches. Frame the whole thing in a 6 inch hoop, or just the central moth in a 3 inch hoop. Recommended for ages 12 and up.
